The Story of the Ore To Shore: What Happens When a Regular Nerd Tries to be an Athlete

Every summer, there’s a mountain bike event that begins in the rolling hills near the birthplace of iron ore mining in Michigan, and ends along the pristine shoreline of Lake Superior. The event is known as the Ore to Shore. The true race is the 48-mile long “Hard Rock” (77 km for the international readers).

I was not part of that race…. Still, I had a title to uphold. This is a story about one otaku’s effort to repeat a 1st-place age group finish in one of the shorter races.

Gunning for The T.A.P. Tag “Tanka Master” Title

Shout out to my man Yomu for the nomination. I’m not much of a poet, but how could I turn down such a unique challenge?

Rules of the tag:

  1. Headline your post with “The T.A.P. Tag!” and put “tanka” as one of your tags.
  2. Make sure to link back to the original post that started the tag.
  3. Make sure to mention the person who introduced the tag to you!
  4. Pick 1-3 anime.
  5. Write your tanka about the anime you’ve chosen.
  6. Tag at least 3 or more bloggers you know, and get their creative muscles flowing.

Simply put, a tanka follows the haiku 5-7-5 syllable format, but adds two more lines of 7 at the end making it 5-7-5-7-7.

Aight, here we go straight no filler, baby.

Summer at the Warped Tour (ft. No Home Address)

This past weekend I took a trip to the Vans Warped Tour.

See, when I’m not blasting weeb music through my head phones or car speakers, there’s a good chance I’m listening to either classic country/rock, or angsty late 90’s & early 2000’s alternative rock. The Warped Tour is something I’ve always wanted to attend, as it showcases many of the great 90’s and early 2000’s bands that I listen to.

In the past, plans to go always fell through for one reason or another, but not this time. Knowing that it was now or never, one Weeabro set out to see the show he had put off for far too long. Thus begins the tale of Derek’s summer at the Warped Tour.

State of the Blog Address

My fellow anime enthusiasts,

On this day, the Weeabros Anime Podcast and Blog marches forward unto a new dawn! It is with great pride that I announce the acquisition of a real domain.

weeabrosshow.wordpress.com will now evolve to theweeabros.show. It is my hope that the transition will be seamless. Should complications arise, however, rest assured that I will do whatever is necessary to move all of the previous content to the new location as quickly as possible.

We have achieved notable success in our first season of operation, and I truly believe that the site and show will continue to grow. If you have a particular topic in mind and would like to discuss it on the podcast or blog, feel free to reach out via the website, or by emailing weeabrosblog@yahoo.com.

Thank You,

WeeaBroDerek Shushou

WeeaBro Derek Wants to Battle (Gen I Kanto Region Edition)

This is a spin-off to a conversation had in the “Anime World’s You’d Like to be a Part of”  podcast episode. In the Pokémon world, capturing wildlife and training it to fight for you is a normalized custom. I assume people also probably eat the Pokémon as well, but that’s another discussion. This is WeeaBroDerek’s elite team of six.
